The previous topic discussed the importance of creating a bathroom cabinet plan before building a new one. Now we go to the purchasing part of your bathroom cabinet creation.
The knowledge you need to know in purchasing the materials needed in building a bathroom storage is as important as having a prepared and clear plan or blueprint for your toilet cabinet.
Purchasing the Materials
The procedures I will tell you will be a short one and you need to carefully consider each step in the purchasing process of cabinet materials.
1. Prepare your list. Recheck the cabinet materials if something is missing in the list. This will be your reference when going to your chosen hardware store. This will also help you to avoid wasting of time figuring out what is needed and what is not.
2.Choose the wood. As a suggestion in the previous article, select an oak wood because it is more durable than other wood types. However, do not just purchase the lumber. Check for the following wood features:
- Clearness. Select a wood with clear look. Touch and feel its smoothness. As much as possible, avoid wood types with too many flaws and knots in it. The clearness of the wood will lessen your time in polishing it.
- Measure the length of the wood. Generally, the standard length of the lumbers being sold in the market has a length of 8 foot. Plywood has a measurement of 4 x 8 foot.
- Price. Good lumber is better, but how about the price? Have a canvass from at least 3 sellers before deciding to buy the wood or board.
3.Select the best coating. I am pretty sure that you already have a chosen brand name of paint and wood stain you will use on your bathroom cabinet. Choose the one, which has proven itself when it comes to paint reliability.
Paint designed for wood will make your toilet compartment stands out for many years to come.
4.Consider extra quantity or allowance. When it comes to hardware concerns such as nails and screw, always have an allowance in its quantity to avoid hassles of going back to the store just for 2 or more screws.
Also, an additional cutter blade can help in case the other one breaks while your cutting the woods.
Make these four tips in purchasing lavatory cabinet materials your guide in building a personal hygiene cabinet. Sounds picky but this advice will help your bathroom storage even more reliable.
All materials are ready and prepared. Now it is time for you to actually start building your own restroom storage for your home. The next tip will show you step-by-step process in building your own.
