Before you get started refacing your kitchen cabinets, you should be aware of some of the tools you will need to do the job right. A good sharp utility blade will help you provide a clean cut around edges and make sure to have a few screwdrivers handy for the handles. These will be a necessity to getting the handles off the doors. Next, you will need a quality tape measure and level, as the details of this job are very important. A few centimeters off and it will be noticeable. You might even need a mitre saw or circular saw, depending on the task at hand.
As you can see, this is not a job for everyone, even though all the pros on television make it look easy. This is also time consuming and can take up to a week or so to complete the entire job. Maybe more if you are working a lot of hours. Make sure to also use quality materials as some of the cheap stuff will not hold up to average abuse.
While these things may seem intimidating, you still can do this, and it will be much cheaper than hiring somebody. You can literally save thousands of dollars by attempting to do this, so it is worth the risk. Just be aware that it does take time and to be very patient. I have seen a few failures and it is not pretty. They end of hiring out anyway, so do it right the first time. Hope this advice helps.
