Not Have to Be Difficult to Refacing Your Cabinet

Before you just grab a can of paint and start refacing your cabinets, you should realize it takes time, patience and a little skill to get it to look good. You cannot just start throwing paint on them and think it will look good. It will not and you will just have to re do it. The key to cabinet refacing is in the preparation. You must sand the original surface down in order to give the new one a place to stick to.

The same theory applies as in if you were painting a car. Fine scratches allow the paint to set in, by fine I mean really fine where the eye cannot detect them. From there you have to choose finish type, color, texture, and if you want to change the handles too?

There are many choices on the matter and it may be best to spend a day or two and research all the information before you go wasting your time by quickly doing it. Another idea to consider is just start by doing one cabinet. Maybe a small one on the side, where if you really do not like it you can try again with a new color or texture. This would save you much money since you would not have wasted money on supplies you are not going to use. Hopefully it will work out right the first time, but often it does not. Be realistic and you should have good results. I look forward to posting more articles about this subject soon.
